Gradings are a fundamental part of Judo. As a judoka you demonstrate a competency in the techniques (ne-waza & tachi waza) and can progress to the next belt or tab.
Juniors are graded from 1st Mon to 18th Mon.
Seniors are graded from 6th Kyu to 1st Kyu and then progress to Dan grades.
We can grade in-club to 18th Mon / 1st Kyu. For Dan grading you will need to attend a regional grading. In-club gradings will be scheduled approximpately every 6 months.
If you are grading, you are expected to know all the previously graded techniques. For example grading from 3rd - 4th Mon, you will be expected to demonstrate all the techniques from 1st - 4th Mon
The BJA has a comprehensive set of grading resources - this is the syllabus that we follow Video demonstrations of all techniques can be found here (sorry, not mobile friendly)
The Mon / Kyu syllabus sheets can be found here.
